Our Quality and Quantity vs. just a Name…

We often discuss here at BagsOnTheNet why consumers of zipper bags choose to run to the big box stores and plunk down their money for the name brand zipper bags.  Some are Glad Bags or ZIPLOC Bags.  For example, ZIPLOC makes a great product and we all know them.  They sell a sandwich size bag which is approx. 6.5” wide x 6” high plus the zipper ( a zipper bag is measured to the zipper, the plastic above the zipper is not included).

After looking around for a GREAT deal on ZIPLOC Brand Zipper Sandwich Bags the best price we could find was $2.75 for a box of 66 bags.  Compare that to our Discount Brand Zipper Bags 6x6 size 2 MIL and ours are $20.18 for a case of 1,000 Bags!  So, let’s do the math together.  You would have to buy just a hair more than 15 boxes to get to 1,000 bags with the ZIPLOC.  15 boxes would cost $41.25.  WOW, almost an exact doubling in price.  There are a few reasons for that; 1) We aren’t moving our bags all around and then onto store shelves, so we have less handling costs. 2) With our order systems we keep very tight controls on inventories and 3) We don’t have National televisions commercials, and large advertising budgets.  We do advertise, but on a much different level.

We’re not saying the competitions bags are bad in any way…  Both our bags and “the competitions” are pretty much identical, ours both serve the same purpose and perform as they should although you may notice ours our a little thicker so another added bonus.  We just don’t spend millions of dollars trying to convince you otherwise.  We, through our long standing website, reputation and existing customer base are growing our sales.  We invite you to check out our zipper bags and would like to extend to you a coupon discount code to check out any of our other bags that you may use as well.  You won’t be disappointed and you’ll even have money left over for more groceries in your cart!

Reusable Tote Bags – The Appeal of Going Green with Reusable Tote Bags

Reusable Tote Bags – The Appeal of Going Green with Reusable Tote Bags

With more and more people becoming environmentally conscious, and even some cities and states banning a single-use shopping bag, the sales of reusable tote bags have grown significantly. Just about every store you go into has their very own bag you can buy to use at their store again and again when you shop. Buying and using this type of bag when you go shopping is very appealing to those who want to help the environment, but are not sure how they can go about doing it. Even the smallest thing like replacing a plastic bag with a reusable one can make a huge difference in environmental waste.

Naturally, reusable tote bags have to be made out of sturdy material in order for customers to want to buy them for use. This is especially true for shoppers in grocery stores because all of the food purchases can be really heavy. This type of bag is traditionally much bigger than the plastic single-use bag, so the cashier or bag person can fit more stuff in them. Always be sure the handles on your bag are sturdy and secure so that you do not end up dropping all of your items.

Not all Plastic Bags are created equal.

By….. The Bag Hunter

Plastic bags come in different thicknesses, or MILS.  A 4 MIL bag is twice as thick as a 2 MIL bag so they should be stronger.  Some low end manufacturers will sell a 4 MIL bag but give the buyers a 3.25 MIL….  That’s almost a 19% difference in plastic.  The factory may be saving a ton, but the consumer is getting much less of a bag, all the while thinking they bought a strong bag.  There are tolerances as to what is acceptable in extruding, and I can see a low in a few bags per thousand, but there are folks out there that pass this off all the time.

A plastic bag is welded (or melted and sealed) together either on the sides or the bottom.  Believe it or not there is a way to mess this part of a bag up.  It’s not done intentionally, but a better manufacturer will know how to set his machines up so they consistently get a good side or bottom seal.

What happens if you don’t?........   Well let’s just say I hope it not red wine on a white dress.

Lastly is price.  Sometimes when you see prices that are too good to be true, many times there are reasons, and some of those reasons are outlined above…. That being said, we invite you to look at our pricing…  We stay competitive and at times we do blow our competition out of the water and one reason for that is our buying power.  If you have bulk orders, you may qualify for free shipping, and we will work to find the best source for your needs.  We don’t buy thousands of bags a year, or even a million bags a year.  We buy tens of millions of bags a year.  That translate to… We are the Bag experts, and dealing with us, you get our knowledge AND our buying power!

Happy Bag Hunting!
